This has been a really bad week for me. In contrast to the NCAA final, WNBA draft night left me heart-sick. I'm a Sun season ticket holder and care very much about the team. It was bad enough that Kara left apparently due, directly or indirectly to Sun mismanagement.

Sun management lit a fuse they did not understand and blew the damn thing up by accident... dopes.

Now Tina's gone and rubbing salt in that wound is the fact that she has gone to Laimbeer... that smirking punk, bully, flopper and cheap-shot artist that I have hated since before Tina was born. Now that bag of trash is in the newspaper saying that he expects Sun fans to "express their anger and disappointment" with Tina when the teams play at the Mohegan. I hope to high heaven that this does NOT happen. Tina deserves better treatment from Connecticut fans. Polite applause should be the appropriate greeting... not asking for a standing ovation, just acknowledgement for all she has meant to us over the UConn and Sun years and for her charitable work off the court.

Yup, she ripped my heart out and stomped on it. But it was gonna happen someday and I get it. She goes home, which is clearly EXTREMELY important to her. She'll play in MSG for a coach/GM (as much as I hate to admit it) with a winning history, and they will likely win a lot in the next few years.

Bottom line - with tears in my eyes, I'll be giving Tina my polite applause and will wish her well. I really hope that is the order of the day. I'd be curious to know what other likely attendees think.

I have purchased season tickets for the Sun. My interest in the CT Sun team is directly related to the UCONN alumnae on the roster. So I am very disappointed in Tina's departure. That said, I would never boo Tina or any other ex-Husky no matter what team they play for. Bad form IMO.

Yeah I can't imagine a circumstance that would merit booing any ex-Husky. Hell Tina Charles could go play for the Yankees and I still wouldn't boo her. And the diva label is the complete opposite of what I've come to think of when I've seen Tina speak or in interviews. Just watch her in the Geno's Legacy show and tell me that's a diva. Obviously something's going on in Montville.

I do not 'boo' Uconn Huskies. I do not know the real circumstances of her
departure. I won't boo Kara Lawson either. After watching the Sun last
year, you could tell something was not right. Would you boo coach Mike T?
He left too!!

Coach T was unceremoniously fired. To say "he left" suggests he had a choice. It's extremely rare for me to boo any player, but I would boo a former UConn player if she earned it. DT got seriously booed at the Sun some years ago. She totally earned it that night. Tina has not.

Well Laimbeer is wrong. The fans will never display their anger at Tina Charles nor Kara Lawson. I was hurt at first, but then I realized it's a business. I'm anxiously awaiting to see Chiney and Alyssa and the return of Katie. Should be some fun basketball. I'm still on the fence with Ann Donovan as I think most of the fans are. If the Sun pull in a losing season again and there is disharmony Ann will be shown anger and disappointment. I also respect the fact that Tina did not trash management. She's still a class act. Laimbeer is not.

My negativity toward Bill is solely based on how he treated our Swin. Hope he does better with Tina.

I think the fans of women's basketball are very forgiving and will not boo Tina. If this was men's basketball she would be booed out of the arena for being such a baby and running from the first team she was on that lost.

I'm probably going to the preseason game mostly because I want to see what these teams look like this season and I've never been to see a game at the Mohegan Casino. Haven't been there in over ten years cause gambling just isn't my thang.

Hope they don't boo her.

As a Sun fan from day one, I have no intention of booing Tina or any other player...sometimes I boo their actions when a bad foul is committed. Most Sun fans clapped harder for Coach T than for our new coach Donovan ( I really wish she would show some emotion).
I am not happy with the changes, but an old boss once told me that I don't do change real well. We have a new young team...Donovan says she is "excited" about this...I will watch...cheer them on and hope for the best. And will wish both Tina and Kara the best as well. Coach Laimbeer will maybe get polite applause...until he ticks me off again.

I used to hate Bill when he was a player - he was the type of player you love on your own team and hate on everybody else's team - but I respected him for taking the WNBA seriously and building a winner. Do not remember the exact timing, but he was one of the first NBA types to give the WNBA the time of day.
As for the Cash issues - I honestly didn't follow it closely and I don't really hold a grudge on that kind of thing. Like Tara/Lobo ... not every coach/player situation works and not every coach/player situation lasts either.

My first thought was that Bill would think Sun fans will boo Tina since he's so used to being boo'ed himself.

UConn ladies are applauded whenever they turn up. UConn fans have the greatest respect and loyalty for their players.

We remember the UConn players wearing the National flag red white and blue. We never forget.

I don't think i've ever heard booes at a wnba game...

Sarcasm, I assume? If not, where do you attend the games? Certainly not any game at the Mohegan where referees were on the court with whistles.

What precipitated the booing of DT?

Recollection clouded time....
Ok, as I recall, and this was a long time ago, maybe 2008... DT was in town and was giving and getting a very physical game. She was in her full trash-talking, ref-baiting mode and things were becoming heated and chippy... lots of applause with each DT foul. As I recall DT set a screen and when 5'6" Jamie Carey hit it DT applied obvious and unnecessary muscle to the contact, laying Carey completely out, then standing over her in a pose reminiscent of the iconic Cassius Clay/Sonny Liston knock-out photo. Carey was a huge crowd favorite and had an unfortunate history of severe concussions that impacted her college and pro careers. Needless to say, the crowd did not share DT's enthusiasm about the mugging.

If anyone else was there that night, I'd love to hear how they remember it.

I would never boo a husky unless something horrid. DT is my favorite player ever. But if what was said was done I can boo that.

Withthat said- for the many of you that follow the Sun- why do I get the impression some think they'll be decent/ or good? They are going to lose a lot of games this year. And imo next year they'll get walloped doing so.Chiney and Thomas need time. There is generally always an overrating of rookies.

I'm under the beleif that Ct Sun will be in the KML sweepstakes next year and Stewart's thereafter. Though the trade was good if their rookie pg is healthy but she'll need time too. The players will mature and hopefully with most it will be positive. Until they get a few years under their belt I look for a lot of losing ahead.

I won't be booing Tina when she returns to Mohegan Sun although the applause may not be enthusiastic as it used to be. I've also stopped booing Bill when he comes strutting in because he revels in being booed. So I refuse to give him the satisfaction. I only wish the entire arena would stay silent. That may send a stronger message than the booing.
