The mirage of positive employment metrics that Obama and his benefactors in the MSM attempted to peddle since day 1 of calendar 2012 have vaporized. Now that annual holiday hiring stats are no longer baked into the reporting cake and the underemployed/discouraged job seekers stats have reached critical mass, the new unemployment (U3) will rise to be 9% in February. Can't wait to hear Obama spin and twist these numbers from the campaign trail:

CNSNews.com) – Unemployment in the U.S. rose to nine percent in mid-February, up from 8.3 percent a month earlier, according to a new Gallup survey. The polling company said this suggests that it is “premature” to assume the economy will not feature prominently in the 2012 election season.

Gallup figures typically provide an indication of what the government will report at the end of the month.

“The U.S. unemployment rate, as measured by Gallup without seasonal adjustment, is 9.0% in mid-February,” Gallup said in its mid-month unemployment survey, released on February 17. “The mid-month reading normally reflects what the U.S. government reports for the entire month, and is up from 8.3% in mid-January.”

Gallup said the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) would likely report a rise in the official unemployment rate in early March, when it publishes its February figures.

Well to be honest, we really didn't have a "winter" either.

(least not around here - and I am not complaining about that)

So does that mean that the administration will blame the continuing stagnant employment numbers on the weather?

They might. All those DPW and plow guys not getting any money. Heating oil companies having to layoff not making as many deliveries. No roofing contractors needed for collapsed roofs. Nobody needs to travel to FL/CA/AZ, hotels/resorts and travel services layoffs.

Nah, it'll still be Bush's fault.

    Absolutely!

See....for the first time in.....well, ever....the communities in this country have not gone to the local news outlets with dire tales of woe as to how it is the day after Thanksgiving and they have already blown through their entire snow removal budget for the year. And how, therefore, they need an immediate infusion of two gazillion dollars (your milage may vary) immediately, or the entire region will be PARALYZED in the grips if a snow induced gridlock, should even one more snowflake fall....

Nope....that did not happen this winter.

Thus the expected stimulus effect of scattering billions of tons of salt onto our roadways, repairing millions of windshields that were damaged by the chunks of salt, the billions of dollars in car repair and replacement, due to multi car pileups every few miles along our nation's roadways, to say nothing of the millions of 12 year olds who were not able to buy cigarettes and Playboy magazines for a lack of driveways to shovel.......(and so on and so on).... All of this economic activity simply did not occur....

You guys need to spend a lot more time studying up on macro-economics....

    This is your “Obama recovery”

January, 2012: As unemployment stood at 8.3%, the workforce participation rate was 63.7% – the lowest since records have been kept. That means that overall employment in the American workforce is now a whopping…
    …55.2%.
That’s a fifth of a percent higher than it was at the lowest point of the Obama recession.
Almost two full points lower than it was when Barack Obama took office.

So wait, we're using polls to measure unemployment now? Huh, I didn't get the memo that we'd decided to completely change the metric by which we measure data in order to get the result we wanted. YAY SCIENCE!
