Think I'm actually going to be able to make it to the game on Saturday. Pretty excited to actually be able to take in a game before going to the AAC Tournament.

This 9 game home-stand is big. Need to win this series vs ECU. Always looking for a sweep, but 2 of 3 would be satisfactory.

>>In a pivotal series for the American Athletic Conference standings, the UConn baseball team (24-13, 5-4 American) hosts East Carolina (22-15, 4-5) for three at J.O. Christian Field this weekend. The Huskies and Pirates will square off at 3 p.m. on Friday, April 17 before a 1 p.m. start on Saturday, April 18 and a noon series finale on Sunday, April 19. The three contests signify the start of a nine-game homestand for Connecticut.<<

Not to be a nitpiker (actually, I am nitpicking) but is someone editing what these kids write? "Signify the start of"? How about simply "The three contests start" or "kick off".

I have to say I don't see anything wrong with what they wrote. Now seeing that you posted this at 4:00 am could it be that you just got back in from a long night of drinking and may not be seeing straight? Just a thought.

Not a good start. Cross has given up 3 runs on 5 hits in the first and ECU still batting.

4-0, 2 errors already. Coming out not ready to play apparently.

Eek. 4 singles with followed by an error. And all with 2 outs. Rough start. Not listening so I don't know if it's been bad luck, seeing eye singles or if they were line drives. Either way, pitching and defense basically need to be flawless the rest of the way to keep them in this game.

4-1 after 3. Daniello gets picked off and Sundberg thrown out by 10 steps at the plate. Not sure what Penders thinking there?

Well they're fighting back. Getting hits but only scratched out 1 run so far. Sundberg was just cut down at the plate trying to score from 2nd. There have been 2 other outs on the base paths which sounded less excusable.

I take it you are listening to the game. Were ECU's hits in the first a result of bad luck or solid contact?

They were solid singles. Just a slow start for Cross today. He has really settled down.

Fair enough. Can't expect him to be perfect. The last error hurts though - can't have the defense letting the pitcher down when he doesn't have his A game.

Just gave another run back. Single, sac bunt and then the killer a wild pitch by Cross which sets up the sac fly.

Just not getting the breaks today. With the runners moving from first and second Siena lines into a DP. 5-2 after 5.

Testani pops up with 2nd and 3rd. One team getting the big 2 out hit today and its not us. 6-3 after 6.

Yep, just doesn't seem like it's UConn's day today. That's baseball. Still time though.

Top of the 9th, and Carson Cross is done for the day. Penders has shown that he will go a long way with both Cross and/or Kay, even on days when they aren't totally on. Ryan Radue in for the 9th.

Well it doesn't help when you help the opposition. Radue walks a guy, then a wild pitch and then throw the ball into the outfield on a pickoff attempt and give him 3rd and then sac fly. A run without a hit. 7-3
