According to Chris Jones on WHUS, Blake Davey is not playing in either game today, due to to a violation of team rules. As Davey serves as the back up catcher, will Max McDowell catch both games or will Connor David will catch the second game?

Carson Cross continuing his hot pitching, strikes out the side in the first inning.

UConn beats USC Upstate 7-3. Holmes pitches one inning, and Devin Over was terrific over the last two innings. All three runs that UConn gave up were unearned. Still, it seems to me that UConn has cut down on the costly fielding and base running miscues this season. When they do make a bad play in the field, it doesn't seem to snowball into really bad innings.

I missed this, as I was watching and listening to the men's basketball team steal an incredible win over Tulsa in the AAC tournament. But my wife tells me that according to Chris Jones on WHUS, two baseball Huskies missed the team bus for the second game tonight, and are thus missing the game. One of them is Aaron Hill, not sure who the other player is.

4-0 lead for UConn after the top of the 2nd inning.

Ruotolo and Hill are the players who missed the bus, both won't play in tonight's game. It will be interesting to see who comes out of the bullpen late in the game if UConn has the lead. I'm sure Darras will be one pitcher, but we'll see who else.

UConn batters are doing more than enough hitting and walking tonight, with a 12-1 lead in the top of the 6th inning. Connor Buckley just got his first RBI as a Husky, also had another nice defensive play at third base. With this sort of offense, it's looking like Ruotolo won't be missed tonight.

Oh well. Taylor Olmstead strikes out looking in his first at bat.

Radue and the freshmen Montgomerie each throw a scoreless inning to close out the game. UConn wins 12-1.

Post game interview had Penders saying very positive things about Connor Buckley again. Also indicated that Montgomerie will start the Wednesday game this week. I had figured that start would go to Sam Nepiarsky, or possibly Callahan Brown.
