LAS VEGAS (AP) — Several of the WNBA's marquee players are flexing newly gained leverage to make demands on the league, including forcing trades and dictating when they'll play.

"They are starting to become like every other league," U.S. national team coach Geno Auriemma said at training camp on Wednesday. "Players are starting to do what they think is in their best interest. Starting to think about their future. Sometimes that's not always popular."

DT is sitting out the WNBA season and the USAB mini-camp per an agreement with her Russian team?

Eventually the Russian and European Leagues will be able to dictate which Star players play, or don't play, in the WNBA each season by offering monetary incentives to NOT play... Passively Controlling the WNBA. (a la DT) . Hopefully the WNBA gets a handle on this potential problem before it gets out of hand.

This is going to be a problem if these foreign leagues pay for no-play. I can see a situation where the star players don't play in the WNBA anymore and the league needs these stars on the court to survive.

WNBA yes, USAB no - I think she has a broken hand. She was there and took part in the activities, she just couldn't practice.

The league is small enough and there are more than enough quality players that overseas teams won't affect the WNBA.
