Gotta say...Mas Tanaka has sparkled as usual. Betances and Andrew Miller are killing it in the 8th and 9th innings. The Yankees are 3rd in baseball with 21 home runs. Alas, they are hitting .239. The Mets have just 10 home runs but have Matt Harvey and Jacob DeGrom.

They Yanks have won 6 of their last 7, 8 of their last 11, heading into this weekend's games with those plucky Mets, who have won 11 in a row with the last ten at home. Should be some great baseball:

In the Bronx:

Friday, 7pm - Jacob DeGrom v. Michael Pineda
Saturday, 4pm - Matt Harvey v. CC Sabathia
Sunday, 8pm - Jonathan Niese v. Nathan Eovaldi

Good luck Mets!

What I like about the Yankees is the age of their pitchers. Everyone talks about Harvey and Degrom (And they should, they are awesome pitchers) but Pineda is 2 months older than Harvey while Tanaka is almost a year younger than DeGrom.

What is scary is they should have swept the Tigers while making their bats silent. But what is scariest, as pointed out by Dove, is the .239 team batting average. Smoke and mirrors so far, this is an awful hitting team and without the big ball they're even worst. Texieria is absolutely the worst 3/4 hitter in the game and Beltran may be done.

You do have to like what you've seen from the starters and especially the bullpen. The 1-2 finishers in Betances and Miller made the Tigers hitters look baffled in this series.

Just hard to imagine where they are going to get offense because for now it's offensive to watch them hit.

My distaste for Michael Kay had me listening to the Mets guys. No more. Ron Darling does not shut up.

And Betances limped off yesterday.

They can't hit so there's no need to get your hopes too high anyway. They're dreadful and HR's are going to stop. This is a very bad team minus the bullpen and the starters when healthy. Hanley and his new body and large head will hammer on them this weekend!

ARod should only play on Friday night. My God...he smoked his first ever pinch hit home run for his 660th ever. Say Hey Willie has been tied.

Hat tip to ARoid tonight.

Took the Sox series. This team is fun. Really need Tanaka back but good arms, great pen and timely hitting. (must be timely. too many guys batting 200) but we do not feel so bloated and old. And I never thought I would say this but<,thank you A-Rod!

So, 3-7 in last 10 may be the sign of the wheels coming off the wagon. Mas Tanaka pitches today in a minor league rehab start. Hopefully good news. If he returns in 2 weeks the staff looks like:

Tanaka
Empinada
CC Sabathia
Eovaldi and...
Some dude of the week.

The offense is still home run centric. If they hittin'em then the Yanks ain't scoring.

Yanks still in 1st place in AL East but with 5th best record in AL.

We couldn't stay on the role of a few week ago, especially with the injuries, If we hang near the top until Nova & Tanaka (hopefully) come back, then we will be fine.
We could really use another bat upgrade, to spell Ellsbury or as a middle-infielder. I wonder if we will see Judge this year for the OF or if they will make a trade for the middle-infielder.

They're calling up The Strikeout Factory, Jacob Lindgren. Supposed to be an uber prospect...out of the bullpen.

Yankees management should really be ashamed considering the last 7-8 years they've had to prepare for so many older guys on their way out. And the group they came up with is just plain awful. To make matter worst their getting a lot more out of Tex and Arod than anyone expected. I bet Ellsbury wished he stayed in Boston and who could blame him.

Can't even watch them, awful!

I have to assume that, just like they were not as good as they looked two weeks ago, they are not as bad as they look now. Agree with Mau. What was the transition plan Cashman? Gardner and??
