Thanks for choosing my Mom's picture as your avatar. Of course the picture isn't really her but she of one of those many Rosie's. She went on to a management career when women were not supposed to be in management. She was the first woman Deacon in our church. I could go on but no one really cares so I'll end this by saying Thanks Again.

Feel free to go on, HistoryMajor. There's a lot we can learn from the character of that generation.

Both my wife and I are both shipbuilders. Myself for 38 years my wife for 35 years. We love the Rosie avatar.

My Grandmother had a friend who was a welder in Quincy Shipyard in Mass. during WWII. Her job was to weld rammers on the front of destroyers to ram enemy submarines. It was so cool listening to her stories and to realize how proud she was to be able to do work that was thought to be "men's work" and to help the war effort. Now some of our best welders we have in the shipyard are women. Go Rosie the Riveter. And GO HUSKIES!
