He and his pre-deceased wife Eydie Gorme were a hugely popular singing duo. I saw him on Broadway in a play called What Makes Sammy Run mid m-1960s and I said to my date at one point that I thought he was ad libbing. He suddenly said his female co-star’s dressing room door had jammed shut and they were working to get it opened. He proceeded to do a stand up routine for about 10 minutes until they fixed the problem. He had a smooth voice and a great personality.
