What are a few things that will always stick in your mind about Ryan Boatright? To me, the first few are a significant role in the program's fourth national title, an incredible albeit undersized athlete, a suffocating defender and perhaps most of all his loyalty to the program through thick and thin. There are many other tremendous attributes so curious to hear yours... Also, does it sound like second round likely or unclear?

How I pumped up Ryan Boatright before his Frosh year like a stock trading on the Pink Sheets or OTC that I wanted to be trading on the NYSE.

I don't think it's unclear; he's not going to get drafted.

I think of what he did defensively in the 2014 Tourny, particularly in the Final 4. Legendary defense. His offense wasn't too shabby, either.

I agree, the best he can hope for is Coach making a few NBA calls to get him some looks.

Great questions - I'll always remember Boat's jump shot against KY with about 2:45 left to go. When that went in, I said that is Boat's signature in my memory. And his defense was great in our Championship run. As far as other memories go, when he was a freshman he hit key FT to secure a win vs FL State. On the negative side, he missed some key FT vs FL and Yale this past year. Hope I'm wrong but I doubt Boat will get drafted. He will get an invite to an NBA team and I will always wish him the best.

In general, I remember his hardnosed defense in the 2014 title run. Especially seeing Izzo's team meltdown. The one play that sticks in my mind that goes to Boat's character was when Bazz gave him that shove. It was totally uncalled for and Bazz was wrong to do it. Instead of responding in kind, Boat was the bigger man and just took it and the game went on.

I just remember a cocky guard challenging Bazz every practice, and contributing to Bazz' 2nd Championship and 1st team AA award.

Sadly individually I will remember his senior year as a tragedy of sorts, no fault of his own. He was just not in a great situation, roster wise as a senior. On the flip side, he didn't complain, bitch or point the finger at others.

He leaves as a Champion which the majority of college players never do.

This assessment is spot on. Agreed!

He's one of the toughest and most selfless players to ever wear the jersey; it's tough to pick just one defining moment. A few off the top of my head:

- Draining three free throws he absolutely had to have against Florida State in his first ever college game

- Turning his ankle and then returning to hit the biggest shot of the game against MSU in Germany

- His greatness in the 2014 tournament, particularly the Villanova game in the first half when Shabazz was on the bench with foul trouble

- The way he played all year this season, even while constantly banged up, frustrated and undermanned. Whether it was the thigh bruise he played with for all that time, the shot to the face he took from the Memphis kid at their place, or the multiple times SMU tried to knock him out in the AAC Tournament, he just continued to come back. Definitely one of my favorite players ever to play here.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: If I live to be 1000, I'll never forget this bucket:

That's when I knew we were going to win, that Bazz & Boat were both smart enough and quick enough and tough enough to punish every slow transition, every botched rotation from UK.

I'll remember the Syracuse comment, and the Cincinnati 3, and his overall toughness and wire-to-wire defense, of course. But that play is the first thing that will come to my mind when I read "Ryan Boatright" for the rest of my life.

confident, warrior, improved every year... i think he will get drafted in the second round... his defense in the tournament, man, he was possessed... never enjoyed watching a defensive performance until that run... he also was a great number two scorer and was able to run the team when bazz was out... he'll always be talked about as a uconn great and favorite

the entire tournament, especially that bazz steal to boat for the dunk against msu at the garden... to be honest more than anything, the absolute happiness and joy he showed when we won the championship at the end... the smile and joy he had, i'll never forget

His defense against Florida in the tourney was borderline criminal! That alone would make him one of my all-time Huskies. The quote after beating Sara is also a top moment.

I really hate this misguided sentiment.
how is this misguided... did you watch this past season? i saw every minute and he was fantastic at getting his numbers, terrible at playing winning basketball and sacrificing etc...
