8th inning come from behind rally has put UConn up 5-2. Zapata has another notable start going, not allowing a hit until the 6th inning.

Hmm. Quinnipiac up in bottom of the 8th, one out, one baserunner on, and Ryan Radue coming in to pitch. It's audition time!

Radue allows one hit, but then gets two outs, a run scoring in the process. Mahoney comes in to close it in the 9th, UConn winning 5-3. In post game interview, Penders says that Radue threw just enough strikes to get the job done. Penders sounded like Radue might be back in line for getting some relief innings this weekend against Louisville.

Game Notes
- Wednesday marked the third time this season Andrew Zapata has taken a no-hitter into at least the sixth inning, also accomplishing the feat on March 11 vs. Sacred Heart and April 1 at Boston College.
- Zapata tossed a career-high 7.1 innings and tied a career-high with five strikeouts.
- Bobby Melley hit his team-high 12th double of 2014.
- UConn picked up its third win of the year when trailing after seven innings.

Up next, UConn gears up for a big conference series at nationally ranked Louisville this weekend. The Huskies and Cardinals will begin a three-game series in Kentucky on Friday at 6:30 p.m.
