Purvis Dunk Rating?

I bet no one saw that coming and over a 6'11" guy.

It's a 9 /10 easy. The only thing missing is shoving he free hand in the guy's face. Something to work on for next time.

2 things, one the dunk and then he did a quick stop and pop from 3 when guarded close. Seemed like new stuff, maybe he's come around physically.

Thats the type of stuff we were expecting from Purvis after watching that highlight video of his FR year at NC State. I dont know why he decided to bring that back out today but I loved it.

This dunk is way up there for 3 reason:

1. He completely created the space and the move - no help, not an alley oop, not a breakaway, not starting 3' from the rim. That alone made the dunk amazing - he blew by his guy and then rose up over a big in traffic, off one leg. Very high level of difficulty.

2. The ferocity - no Rudy Gay delicacy on this one - he tore that up.

3. Big game, big moment, big momentum.

I'm putting this in top 15 all time UConn dunks, right now, and reserving the right to move it up higher.

I'd put it right at the top along w/ Tony R vs. BC and Dyson's two against Memphis and some cupcake whom I forget. I personally value the in-traffic posterizing dunks over the breakaway 1 v 0 dunks. While Ben had a few nice alley-oops, the dunk I think he's most known for is a windmill. Sick, but not the same as an in-traffic flush, imo.

9/10 from me. Really really impressive athleticism and power. I think Purvis was told to stick to lay-ups after rolling his ankle on his failed dunk vs WVU. But you can't keep that veracity caged for too long.
