German throws 24th perfect game, 4th in Yankees history. 1st in the pitch club era. Loose ball from the A’s bullpen…to slow his rhythm down. I am a Yankee fan and I turned it on about 10:30 thinking it would put me to sleep. Maybe baseball has a future. Without pitch clock it would have taken the consistent action that kept me watching away.

Bah, went to bed after the big 5th inning. Didn't German get bombed in his previous outing? Lasted like 2 innings?

I too went to bed after the 5th inning. Considering how badly German has been pitching lately, he’s the last guy I would have expected to throw a perfect game. Good for him.

That pitch clock seems to help quite a bit. Keeps the game moving...sorta, but better anyway.

It was against the A's in Oakland so there should be an asterisk
Yes the A’s are a terrible team. But there have been a lot of terrible teams in the 147 years and 240,000 games played in MLB. German’s perfect game is only the 24th ever achieved. That’s 1/100th of 1% of all games ever played. That’s quite an accomplishment, even if you’re pitching against the Sisters of the Poor.

Yeah, but why is it nobody else no hit them yet this season?

I remember after Cone no hit the Expos he was a guest on Mike & Mike a few days later. Russo, being the moron he often was back then wouldn't stop saying "it was the Expos so it shouldn't count" I was on hold well over an hour before I finally gave up but I called to ask Russo why his SF Giants couldn't no hit the Expos when they faced them a lot more times than Cone did.

I bet a lot of no-no's are against crappy teams. Still awesome. Even if the pitcher faces only .200 hitters, he should still be expected to give up 5 or 6 hits.

Whenever a Yankee does something there are folks who want to diminish the achievement. It's a lot like the national media and UConn.

I'm here to jinx it, but the Cubs' Justin Steele has a perfect game through 4.

The 3-5 hitters for the Sisters of the Poor would put the A's to shame. Quick with the hands through the strike zone. Lots of practice with the wrists and those rulers.

Yeah because so many other pitchers are throwing perfect games against them and there’s tons of shut out full games and no hitters from other pitchers this year too against the A’s right???!

Stupid post!!!

Yankees are the biggest chokers this century. Boston has been the dominant sports city since 2000. They've always been a great sports city since 1900 but their run of titles the past 20 years has been unprecedented.
