I appreciate downloading movies/music without paying for them is illegal this award seems excessive. IMHO even the 67,500 award was excessive. There's no way the Music industry suffered a 675,000 loss.

This whole thing is nonsense. The recording industry's only purpose right now is fronting money for album creation, corrupt publicity, and then hounding people for nonsensical rights violations. Artists almost universally make more money as a result of free music sharing.

Awards don't always equal the actual loss in court cases. Ever hear of treble damages? Happens every day.

Not to mention artists see ~0% of the money from these MAFIAA lawsuits.

How do you know that? This person we are to believe did not share their downloads with others who shared them with more other? Perhaps the fine should be $6.75M. The only way to stop crime is to make the penalties most undesirable.
