Ham Radio operators have had to battle this kind of lunacy for years. I know. HOA's and restrictive covenants can be worse than the chaos they claim to solve.

HOAs exist primarily so the developer can recoup their investment. They persist to main property value. On the face, it makes sense. Who wants to live next to a hot pink house or a neighbor with a jolopy on blocks and break drums strewn across the yard? But if anywhere a substance over for form mentality should prevail, it's in an HOA. Unfortunately, you will not find more mental Napoleon Complexes than among the population of HOA presidents.
