Loyola’s women’s basketball Head Coach Sheryl Swoopes will only welcome back six of her current players next year after a disappointing second season for the team in the Missouri Valley Conference (MVC).

This year’s letdown made change inevitable for the Ramblers. The team finished with a 6-25 overall record and a 3-15 record in the MVC.

A total of eight current players will not return next year, but only three of those players — Katie Faught, Courtney Lindfors and Molly Crosby — are leaving because they’re graduating.

One sort of expects a bit of culture clash with a new coach, but it is surprising that two of her freshman are leaving - those would be the first class she herself signed - the sophomore would have been signed by the previous coach.

"Great players do not necessarily make good coaches."

Whether irony or understatement, it is Geno True.

4th coach in like 12 years. Second worse record, but only one year over .500 - and only upgraded from Horizon (where they were terrible for the most part) to the MVC.

Yeah, she may be a bad coach (who knows?) but not where I would want to coach.

Two years into her coaching career is a bit too early to write her off, don't you think? For all we know, Coach Swoopes could be cleaning house and starting anew.

I would give any coach,a few years to get his or her feet on the ground, implement their system, and hone their recruiting skills and results.Even experienced coaches, going to a different or new program, can struggle in the beginning years.Coach Swoopes has a lot to offer, through her own experience, and she will be just fine,Every player you have or get, must buy into your system,to become successful, and that takes time.Given the backing of the university, coach will, eventually, bring the program forward and arrive at the success she envisioned,or something along those lines.
