Common sense would be treating it like finding pine tar on a bat or finding Vaseline on a baseball.

Pitcher is out of the game and serves a suspension.

So Brady is out of the Super Bowl.

Suspend Brady/Bellicheck, major fine to Kraft and strip them off 2 1st rounders this time around for being repeat offenders and not learning their lesson.

I'll pass on direction for what is and isn't "common sense" from those who think cheating should go unpunished.

You don't need to see the crime being committed to know a crime was committed. There's enough evidence here for the NFL to act, they are choosing to let the story lead because it's more hype for the game in what is otherwise a relatively slow week for them.

Maybe but a witness or two certainly is helpful in getting a conviction. As long as we're analogizing crim. law, you might want to google the phrase "chain of custody."

Yeah. The NFL and whatever network is carrying the game wants that...they want a game that draws zippo because the star qb is out. Even if the NFL wants to do that the network would overrule them.

Actually. I think both the league and the network are loving this. Hasn't been this much of a "black hat" in the league since Al Davis was in his prime. nothing brings more coverage than a classic good vs evil battle. Even better than a David vs Goliath one.

Great analogy - But if they implicate Brady then he should probably have to sit out a game next year along with a fine. Not the Super Bowl. To me it's a misdemeanor anyway. They did not beat the Colts 45-7 because of the air pressure in the footballs.

Well, Vaseline on a ball...yeah, maybe. But if you're George Brett with a tarred up bat, the league will reverse the decision and put you in the Hall of Fame.

So you're saying it's more likely that the NFL officials responsible for watching the balls to keep them from being tampered with are the ones who tampered with the balls. And only with the Patriots' footballs.

You may want to google "motive".

Because refs never bet? The whole thing is a farce. The refs handled the ball on every down... and noticed nothing! Every loser that is crying about this should just find a better team to follow.

Don't really need to. The burden of proof is typically on the prosecuting agency in America. In this country someone has to prove your guilt rather than each of us constantly needing to defend our innocence.

No I'm saying that you are probably more likely to find the truth by waiting for the NFL to investigate and find the actual evidence than to just make it up as you go along.

Just curious what do you think was the Pat's motive? I think we are all in agreement having a football a little low on pressure didn't influence the game. Likewise in the second half after the refs added a bit more air to the ball and the Pats pulled away. So in your imaginary world, were they trying to keep it close?

Last night on the news a group of high school students proved that the Pats did nothing wrong. They proved that a football inflated at 70 degrees will deflate when taken outside at 50 degrees.

I am not a Pats fan.

Jordan rules... Brady will have to sit out a preseason game. Ya know, NFL umps are typically lawyers by day. I'm probably as certain as you are that Brady was in on it, but without a precedent (unlike baseball, where you can doctor the ball as long as you're not stupidly blatant about it like Michael Pineda) and no direct evidence of which individual deflated the balls, I don't think the NFL will let the handsome star sit on the one time impressionable young women with pink baseball caps are tuning in to watch their yearly football game.

Good analogy, the Yankees were never asked to answer for BFDs corked bat. Hell, they gave a cheater caught on tape a seat in a skybox and his own float in the championship parade. This is all a bunch of crap.
