Just Back from the Sun

Good to be back in the Mohegan Arena. Alex Bentley and Alyssa Thomas lead the way with 18 points each followed by Chelsea Gray with 10 (but 4 TOs). I raved about Alyssa Thomas all last season. I love her aggressiveness. If that girl ever developed a reliable outside shot, she'd be an All Star. The walking wounded Chiney and Allie are now joined by Kelsey Griffin who was in street clothes an was limping heavily.

Outside shooting remains an issue shooting <21% from 3 "led" by Inga Orekhova's painful 0-7. We know this kid can fill it up but she just isn't... tough to watch.

The game ended with Elizabeth Williams and four players on the bubble (Simmons, Brewer, Orekhova, Faris) on the court... there a reasonable chance all four will be cuts at some point. Brewer and Faris stood out in this group, but was it enough? Kelly had 5 assists and was a vocal leader in that group, but did not shoot well. Her lone 3 provoked the loudest cheer of the night.

Also at the game and really like Alyssa . I really think the Sun should be fun this year. They have a nice nucleus of talented but very young players. When Chiney comes back to be the team leader I think the Sun should be enjoyable to watch. I think the only thing missing is a three pt specialist.

I want to say they were hoping that was Orekhova. 0-8 last night though...ouch...plus the funniest thing was Anne looking down the bench and calling for "Olga" to go in. Not a good sign when coach calls you Olga instead of Inga.
