http://coachingsearch.com/article?a=James-Franklin-The-best-way-to-recruit-an-area-consistently-is

>>“Hopefully, you’re able to recruit a certain area for a long period of time, and you develop that trust with people in the community and high school coaches and players," he said." The best thing you’re ever going to do to recruit an area consistently is how you treat the guys in your program, because they’re going to go back to that community and reinforce the things you said.”<<

>>Franklin described the importance of relationships with everyone around the player, not just the player himself.

“It’s about getting the high school coach to trust you,” Franklin said. “Not just how you handle yourself when you come to the school, but the history with that high school coach and that area that, when these kids did show up on campus, you continued to support them. It’s about developing trust with the parents. You’ve got to surround that kid with as many people that believe in you and what you’re going to do and how you’re going to help this young man and their family.

“It may be the high school coach. It may be the parents. It may be the Pop Warner coach. It may be somebody from the community. That’s probably the most important thing. Then having a vision and having a plan and being able to illustrate how that young man is going to fit into the overall vision. People that do it best are the people that see a plan, see a vision and can communicate that. You’re trying to create win-win situations.”<<

Rutgers on verge of hiring former Paramus Catholic coach Chris Partridge to recruiting position

Smart move by Rutgers, and I believe Houston is the other school to add a local big name high school coach to their staff.

Local: Lou Marinelli

Out of state: Rick Hansen HC at St. Peter's prep (NJ), #1 in NJ and #15 in the country according to MaxPrep

I'm not saying this will happen but it would help recruiting if we did

how about you?

I hope Coach Diaco doesn't ask Lou Marinelli to join his staff, even as the assistant to the traveling secretary. Bitter high school coach. No thanks.

What local HC would you like to see join the staff if Diaco ever went that route?

I would add Bosco HC Greg Toal and former Bergen Catholic HC Fred Stengel to the NJ list

To the CT list: Sean Marinan of Xavier, Bob Brackett of Ansoina

The CT list of guys who would bridge the gap but would say no because of ties to P and GDL:
Marinelli, Petroccio of Staples, Fillipone of Hand

Don't be so sure about Fillipone... he can see the bigger picture.

Rich Albonizio formerly of Greenwich High School is available ;)

Hell - the way Windsor High kids find their way to NFL - Fleeting should be in the convo.

Rutgers on verge of hiring former Paramus Catholic coach Chris Partridge to recruiting position

Just read they pulled the offer from CP - must have realized they would have been strong recruiting in one area and alienating a whole bunch of other areas.

Duane Maranda in New London
He's a husky and was on HCRE's staff a recruiting grad assistant.

Played and coached with Duane. Not many better guys out there than him. A football junky...he would be a great local addition.

College football: Michigan hires former Paramus Catholic coach Chris Partridge

>>Partridge’s official title is recruiting operations coordinator for the Michigan football program. Since coach Jim Harbaugh took over the Wolverines program, he has revamped the school’s system of recruiting and player evaluation. It is similar to the model used at the University of Alabama.<<
