UConn up 6-3 top of the 9th.
Positives today:
Early on when they weren't hitting they managed to manufacture 2 runs on only 2 hits by bunting, stealing and 2 sacrifice flies.
Home Run in the 7th by McDowell his 4th on the year.
Cross who started off slow had a strong outing with 6 innings and only 2 runs allowed
Paul who started the game was replaced by Testani in the first and Testani who has not seen the field in some time takes full advantage of the opportunity and is 3-4 on the day. Good for him.
Bottom of the lineup came up with some big hits.
Negatives today:
Did take awhile to get going. Only had 3 hits thru 6 innings and 2 of those were infield hits.
Verdi, Ferriter and Siena are still struggling. Ferriter seems to be in a slump again.

Final Score UConn 7-3.
Anyone know what happened to Paul?
Maybe they can get some momentum going before Big East Tourney.

Stanley Paul came out due to a hamstring. In the post game interview, Penders said that the injury occurred during one of last week's games, not sure which one he indicated. Anyway, after a couple of fielding adventures early in this game, Paul for the first time told the coaches of the injury. As you might expect, Penders sounded quite annoyed at finding out this way.

Anyway, Testani came of the bench and played for the first time in quite some time. He had himself a very nice game, having three hits and scoring two runs. UConn offense sounded good in the 7th inning scoring four runs, highlighted by a McDowell homer and a Yavarone double, two extra base hits in the same inning, a rare thing for them. Along with the rest of their offensive troubles, the Husky power numbers have really suffered this year. Mazzilli and McDowell lead the team with four home runs each, and Mazzilli and Ferriter are the only players with double figures in doubles. In addition, before this game Mazzilli and Ferriter were the only players with slugging percentages of over .350.

One last thing, UConn pitching did not allow a walk in today's game.

Friday game. UConn up 3-1 in bottom of 4th. The Huskies scored their three runs in the 2nd in an inning that featured two extra base hits for the second straight day, a double by Verdi and Siena's first home run of the season. Testani also has a single, so here's hoping he's coming out of his slump. According to Chris Jones on WHUS, it sounds like Stanley Paul's hamstring injury may keep him out the rest of the Husky season.

Bottom of the 4th. 6-1 UConn now, bunch of base hits. This series may have come at the perfect time. A team that doesn't have great pitching to help get our teams offensive confidence back.

Back to our old ways in game 3. We have 1 hit thru 6 innings. 0-4 on first pitch contact. We made the other pitcher throw a total of 7 pitches in the 6th inning. Instead of trying to tire him out and maybe get him out of the game we just keep swinging away early. Meanwhile they have taken a few pitches and our pitchers have awarded them with several walks.
