OSU just lost a triple OT game to #20 Michigan State, 107-105.

That's the thing about this season: tOSU squared off against ranked competition and lost by fewer than 10 points, whereas the Buckeyes also squared off against the #1 team in the country to start the season... and lost to that same competition by 44. In other words, Ohio State has faced some good teams this season, but has also faced Uconn. The former opponents looked like good challenges, while the latter opponent was a buzz saw or a wood chipper. Not auspicious if you've seen Fargo.

All of tOSU weaknesses were exposed against Sparty. They lack quality depth, they don't rebound well, they consider defense an afterthought, they don't value possessions, and their shot selection is abysmal. I said in another thread that these deficiencies would ultimately cost them a possible #1 seed and that they'd be lucky to make to the Sweet Sixteen, that was before they lost to Minnesota. Coach McGuff is a great recruiter, but his preparation and bench coaching skills leave a lot to be desired. As was the case yesterday, when the shots are not falling for the Buckeyes, they have nothing else to hang their hats on.
