lets keep the good news coming...

DeAndre Daniels says he's already put on 8 lbs. of muscle, up to 203 from 195 at end of season. #uconn

DeAndre really flashed his true potential down the stretch this past season...strength and the ability to put the ball on the floor (both easier said than done) i honestly believe is the only thing holding DD back from being an 18 and 8 guy next season (and a lottery pick)

He is gonna be a ****ing monster next season.

Anyone who doubts me, watch the first half of the South Florida game. Nobody even came close to guarding him. Next year, he should be able to sustain that dominance over longer stretches.

So UConn should be "Bigger, Stronger, and Faster" next year! And "Better" !

I have a dumb question. How does one know that the weight DD gained is indeed "all muscle"???

They have ways of measuring body fat, and I'm sure the school helps them keep track of that kind of thing.

The main exercise I want Daniels working on is one that teaches him to stop losing his guy on defense.

If DD can develop his mid-range game, he will be a nightmare for defense.

DD averaged like 17/7 for the last ten games of the season i believe and the only thing i kept think was "if this kid could put on 10lbs of muscle he`d be a monster". lets hope he comes in next year strong and hungry to show the end of the season was no fluke.

Yep. He can shoot the catch-and-shoot 3. What he needs to develop is the one dribble and shoot 15 footer.

1) Handle
2) Body control when he puts the ball on the floor to drive to the hoop
3) Strength

If he can improve in those 3 areas, he'll be a beast.

You can see him as a bigger stronger RIP.

I don't think he's as fluid moving without the ball as Rip.

He can be a very effective one dribble wing player and a very effective post player when a smaller guy is on him. His length is very tough to defend when he makes a move with one strong, assertive dribble.

That part of his game was coming along the last month or so of the season. I think we're gonna be pretty good this year.

I expect that guy to be lying on the ground in the paint half the time. That'll help.

Great thread. I remember how a few 'Yarders talked crap about DD after his frosh campaign. LOL.

Nice assessment, agreed! I never liked his shooting base, bc his feet look glued together when he shoots sometimes. Not sure if he is going to change that up though, because regardless, he still has nice form and touch, and it goes in.

Not many are as fluid as Rip. His career trademark was as a perpetual motion machine, moving without the ball.

DD needs to be able to drive to the rim without getting stripped and to finish at the rim without getting stuffed.

Strength will help with that second thing. Hopefully he can develop a reliable enough handle. Him or OC.

The strength needs to be in the legs for initial acceleration and when stopping to square his body up and shoot on balance.

The upper body strength is for getting his shot off after contact.
