Not sure I agree with #5, #7, or #10. Those teams lost a lot and imo have a lot to prove to be ranked preseason top 10. Brookfield should have a top 5 team in the state, and I think Danbury will surprise some.

Can you list them? I'm interested in the info, but not in subscribe ING to the Courant online edition. What a joke they are. Wonder what the take rate is on that?

I don't subscribe or pay for access... I just registered my email. No cost for that or I use the "Google Title" back door.

I like the Register much more than the Courant for sports. They actually have people who are in charge of watching individual conferences

Feels like FB is migrating towards the path hockey took many years ago, with the best kids being recruited away from public schools. Sure there are a few top kids at the schools listed, but the majority of top recruits can be found at the preps.

The New Haven Register poll is the state media poll. The New London Day conducts the coaches poll. The Hartford Courant "poll" is the opinion of Tom Yantz.

Sorry to hijack the thread. I played Legion Ball for South Windsor in '87 & Windsor Locks in '88 ... East Hartford pretty much dominated the zone for the few years I was there. Tim Cain, Bobby Stefanik, Tylon Crump, Paul Caccavelli, Matt Tierney ... those were the guys I remember. I only faced Tim Cain once ... weak grounder to first that I couldn't catch up to ... I was glad I made contact!

I wondered what happened...In the early 90s, the Courant had 'Nutmeggers in the minors' baseball every Sunday and 5 people were from East Hartford. American Legion baseball was good, so was the little league.

Numbers. In 70s & 80s there were 24 little league teams, rosters went 14 deep after pre-season roster cuts. They had 12-14 babe ruth/pony/colt league teams.

A few years ago a friend in town told me they were down to ~4 teams town-wide in their little league program.

Jeez...East Hartford is Not ranked??? East Hartford's sports went downhill since 1990...we had great American Legion teams...and fooball was great, too...
Jude Kelly's run at east Catholic in the 80's was fueled by East Hartford kids too.

True my best friend went to East Catholic. Another went to Cheney Tech and another went to Penney.

Feel bad for Brookfield. Lost their top two players. Drysdale was D1 talent, just decided to go the Ivy route; can't blame anyone for that
