He wants more games with the atmosphere like Monday. Also he is planning on visiting NBA players next month to talk about donating to the practice facility.

Came here to post the same thing. Gotta love this:
"There are a lot of things we could do," Calhoun said. "One thing, when I see that we have 10,000 or 9,000 seats sold at Gampel and only 6,000 are used. We should [text] our season ticket holders and say, 'if you're not going to use your tickets, please blast us back and let us know.' Then sell the tickets for five bucks, get people into the building. The perception is a big part of what's going on."

Yeah they could get more studnts in that way and turn Gampel into a REAL homecourt advantage.

Honestly, games against Tulane are no different from games against Seton Hall. It's the top of the conference the fans will miss, not the ballast at the bottom.

It's ten years too late.

The athletic department had trouble getting folks to the final four!!!

In 2011, uconn was the only school in the final four that didn't put together a discounted package so students could attend the game. Instead, they gave away tickets to students at Houston and Rice to fill the student section. Absolute joke

It was embarrassing looking at our student section in Houston compared to the others. It wasnt even half the size of the other ones. But then we won and i couldn't care less.

They really don't give a single f.ck about the students, from the stupid, incredibly exploitable lottery system, to the student section placement, to the in-game policies, to the pricing, to their making students figure out their own way to Hartford for half our games (let alone staging said games off campus in the first place), to their not encouraging any kind of solidarity with the student fan base (when was the last time you saw our student section look like Michigan's, if ever?).... and it goes on.

It's really like they don't want us to have fun.

I wish JC was hired as a "head of basketball operations" or something

What do other schools do for the students? Kentucky has $5 student tickets for both football and basketball (basketball tickets are thru a lottery).

We have all been saying this for years, if you want more atmosphere you need more students, also you need to put them on the sidelines instead of the endzone like a lot of schools are doing these days, it creates a better television perception.

Why don't we do this? $$$$$ Greed and short term thinking.

Get more students in there and give them the best seats in the house and you have your atmosphere back, then you get better recruits, then you win more games and create a bigger demand for your product, then you can raise ticket prices and make more money.

My philosophy on this has always been that if UConn wants to be a blue blood, it has to act like one. Off the court too. Every aspect of game operations and arena setup as well.

Do they still use the Michael Buffer/"Ya'll Ready For This?" intro at the opening tip? Because that's needed changing for the better part of two decades.

Jim, I love you, but part of the reason our attendance and atmosphere have fallen is because we play sooooooo many cupcakes. We're bored with those games, many have stopped paying for those games, and the complacency that evolves from those games is carrying over into the more meaningful games.

eliminate all the in game advertisements, cheerleaders and band and band and cheerleaders and bring back the gymnastic squad. (have two squads). More music, less Webster Bank

get the cheerleaders and the mascot on the floor. If Jonathan can't do what he did in the 90's, then have him dance and get him involved in leading the cheers

let the cheerleaders start the cheers and get rid of the lame crowd coaching. Stuff will catch on like it used to back in the day

improve concessions 3,000%, we have the worse I've seen anywhere and there's no close 2nd (maybe Nova's Palestra)

the HCC needs a major overhaul, maybe build a bar in one or both of the upper-level end-zones and make the restaurant above the benches accessible to everyone and do so during the game

JC> any past AD.
Maybe but his skill set and personality don't make him a good fit for the job.

The palestra is upenns fyi

I agree with most of your other points other than the cupcake theory. It is really pathetic we do not have real a chearleading program. Anyone know is that was a title 9 thing?
