Speaking of NCAA records.....If UConn continues to lead the nation in blocks and least personal fouls per game it will be the first time in the history of WCBB that a team has achieved this improbable double double.

The record of 19 was achieved twice. Once by New Orleans against Western Kentucky in 1999; the second time by TCU against .
UAB, in 2005. In the TCU game Sandora Irvin recorded 16 herself, then (and I think still now) the NCAA single game record).

Looks like Stewie, Kiah, and Stef are blocking machines at times. It's like if someone cloned Kelly Shumacher and are replaying UConn in the 2000 NC game.

Irvin had athletic genes. I thought she would have a better pro career.

UConn was leading the nation in blocks per game prior to last night's game but were only in a 7th place tie with many other teams for most blocks in a game at 12. Now along with leads in a number of team season average stats, the Huskies have the added luster of leading one area for a team game high category with last night's 17 blocks going two better than USF's 15.

And whether they will be able to hold on to their lead in fouls per game is debatable since the #2 team is Presbyterian, and with a name like that you know they're probably mild and polite types who the refs feel bad about calling any fouls on.
