Just because she was a walk-on this season, especially when all WBB was in the midst of an unknown pandemic and Geno wanted to have players who were enthusiastic with the Husky beliefs, and Autumn certainly was, does not mean that Geno would have "automatically" asked her to stay. With the new crop of freshman, an incoming transfer, and no experienced players (except Anna) leaving the program, Geno could have had a 1-on-1 talk with his future "Doctor" and told her that, while he definitely appreciated her efforts this past season, he did not see any role for her in 2021-2022.I doubt that someone who was asked to leave would post "once a Husky, always a Husky."
No idea what you mean by "she would not be on the team next year." As a walk-on, no reason she could not have stayed.
Autumn is obviously smart. It's to her advantage to part on the best of terms. Why not issue a statement that includes "once a Husky, always a Husky." Other coaches will be contacting Shea, CD and him to determine Autumn's contributions to their teams.
