I say this based on six games, not one, but today, it was especially obvious if for no reason other than the movement of the scoreboard.

Meanwhile, UConn hit one three today. One. You almost have to try to do that in todays game, and it's clear that Gibbs is the only player on the roster whose natural inclination is shoot rather than drive. That presents quite the dilemma, and it will be interesting to see how things shake out.

And...I hate to condense that game to one play, but I cannot believe Daniel Hamilton pulled up for that three down 71-70 when it looked like he had a straight line to the basket. I was shocked.

This team demonstrated how high their ceiling is in the second half, but right now, we don't have time for moral victories. We need to beat Maryland.

Jalen was in there when the whole team was playing better defense. He was part of the reason no doubt but he also got beat on a huge play down the stretch. Not a fair assessment from what I see as i like them both, but Sterling definitely an off game.

he needs to start, we'll see how stubborn KO is with adjustments in our next game. Gibbs was giving up three after three as he trotted under screens vs shooters

Adams is officially the PG now. Now i wish he played more against the Cuse. He could have used more expierence vs the zone.

I mean if you are going to go under screens you need to put a little hustle in it.

And he's miles ahead of Purvis composure wise.

This is the Adams that I've been waiting for. Clearly he's a lead guard and needs the ball in his hands and isn't comfortable yet as the second guard.

Gibbs looked hurt/ worn down today. I'll give him a pass.

But 40 games in and it's still the same out of control, sporadic shooting, can't finish purvis.

I say we try Adams at the 1 and Gibbs at the 2. Bring purvis off the bench and see if he can bring a spark that way. He does all of his damage in little three to five minute spurts anyways.

Purvis has a great attitude and he seems to love uconn. He is just so out of control and he is terrible at finishing/ making decisions around the rim.

He did get beat. In time, he'll learn to trust the backline help rather than fouling. For the most part, though, he was exceptional. How is it not a fair assessment?

Also it should be noted how horrible on defense hamilton is, mainly when his matchup doesn't have the ball. him and gibbs consider defense optional it seems, they often bark at their teammates to switch which puts the team in a compromising situation.

Just because the whole team was considerably better defensively and active unlike in the first half when Gibbs saw more minutes. This was a really nice showing although a bit too late by the defense. Jalen was part of it but everyone else stepped up tremendously but too late. They are both good defenders and we will be fine.

The Adams vs Gibbs thing is a tough one. I've said all along, that Adams has more PG-Combo play making ability than Gibbs, but he doesn't have the experience that Gibbs has and is not as good a shooter. Adams looks like a better defender and will only improve as the season goes on.

I do think that KO needs to work Adams in more and more and that he gives UConn the best chance of being special come March.

Do I want Adams starting, not necessarily. Do I want Adam in there leading the office, h*ll yes.

When Gibbs is lighting it up, it's hard not to have him in there, but when the offense is stagnant or the perimeter D is struggling, Adams is my man.

That floater adams has reminded me of ben gordon
He's a stud. But then again maybe Adams energy off the bench is what they need. But if it means being down 18 each time idk...

My new favorite player tho

DHam hurt them defensively today I agree. He had a rough game there and was beaten time and time again. Still trying to do too much off his man and the result looks lazy.

I've been asking for more Adams/Gibbs since game 2. It seems every time he brings in JA he then immediately brings in Sam or Omar - bad bad job. Let's get our best 2 in there as much as possible and let them play off of each other.

He should have attacked - especially third game in three days when the perimeter look is likely to come up short. But he didn't have a defender anywhere near him and could walk into a wide open three. Can't possibly ask for a better look - just really need to make it if you decide not to drive.

Disappointed in Gibbs so far - both his D and just his lack of basketball savviness for a fifth-year (one-handed passes, reach in fouls on out of control guards, forced threes at the wrong times). But I would have said I was disappointed in both Gibbs and Miller at the half, and Miller came alive with a big time effort in second half. Hopefully Gibbs will have a similar stretch of good play and find his comfort level soon.

Really impressed with Adams defensively, especially recovering quickly back out after helping. But we will need both of them this year.

So other than DHam, Gibbs and Purvis, you love our back court?

I like purvis defensively still despite some woes today and yesterday, he usually works his tail off laterally and runs over screens well. He is an inept playmaker in the half court, and better suited as a catchn shoot/drive player... but his strength and effort on defense i like.

its clear as day adams has a better first step and frame than gibbs, you can see it when adams attack on pnrs or picks up full court ( theres a reason why he guarded Levert so well for stretches) . Theres also no excuse for the sheer laziness on defense from hamilton, gibbs, and cassell.

I hate to think were we would have been without Hamilton in Paradise.
Purvis is so good but has that huge flaw of missing his layups. His free throws were back today.
Gibbs had a bad tournament. I wouldn't write him off yet though.
Adams looks ahead of schedule.
Great game for Miller

Gibbs seems very mechanical to me. I'm hoping he is just trying to get a feel for his new team.
Thing is, we are use to smooth PG's here. Does anyone doubt Kemba, Bazz or Boat either get a good shot off or go to the line with 8 secs left?

You guys are too reactionary. Gibbs is a little bit too one dimensional but he can shoot it and does make good passes some of the time(not when he trying to fire bullets in no space though). I think we will just see more of JA especially if Gibbs is struggling but we are going to need both. JA's time will come be patient.

Purvis: good d, 3-point shooting, driving to the hoop. Bad: finishing his lay-ups, shaky free throws. He is important to our team and our best "2"

Adams is more talented than Gibbs but he is learning.

Ham is our best player

Muaconn only you would try to minimize Jalen's skills and huge impact on the comeback against Gonzaga. Sterling has looked brutal against good competition. He is slow, is inclined to shoot, and can't defend. Unless he is spotting up from 3 he wont be able to do much for us this year. Jalen Adams needs to start ASAP if we are to reach our potential. Other than Hamilton, Adams is already more talented than Purvis or Gibbs.

Nuts

Don't worry about Gibbs. He's what we wanted. There's no way you'd want Jalen Adams to have to lead ball handler spot this early. Maybe that happens. But it'll be because Adams becomes special. Gibbs is a solid PG/SG. Very good for this team.
