2016 Baseball schedule

The 2016 baseball schedule is now up on the UConn website. Interestingly enough, no late winter/early spring trips to Florida. Instead, trips include San Antonio and a spring break sojourn to southern California.

Seeing schedule posted has given me thoughts of putting up my game tracking grid. Maybe I will do a preseason chart, and update it prior to season. Hopefully more categories highlighted in green this year.

So Alcorn State replaces Iowa. That's the way it it goes with early season tournaments.

I was hoping UConn would be able to play a few games this year in the new stadium in Hartford. I've never been able to make it to a baseball game in Storrs but will definitely be attending this one.

Good that they are tweeting the winning pitcher now. Still, the more information about these fall games the better, even if it is all positive accomplishments.

I just took a look at the revised baseball schedule on the UConn website. It looks like this game replaces the Sacred Heart game that was scheduled in Bridgeport on March 9. Coach Penders usually schedules all the Connecticut Division 1 baseball schools, so unless there is a further revision to the schedule, that will not be the case this coming season.

Daylight Savings Time starts the following weekend, so sunset on March 8 is still before 6pm. I hope they plan on starting the game well before the normal 3pm start time.

One other interesting aspect is that this impacts Pat Ruotolo's suspension. If this game is indeed played on March 8, then Ruotolo's first game back after missing the first 14 games of the season would be against USC on March 15.
