Been traveling - playing catch-up getting Roman up from the other day. (His dad coached w/ Jack Cochran @ New London).

Monteiro from Brockton MA committed to BC @ end of March (had offer from UConn, UMass and Iowa) Unsure if he was a Diaco staff offer or previous regime.

I'll add to list.

Get your sh't together, Medic.

I'll ask again, what the hell are we not paying you for?

Not sure if we're still recruiting Sharrieff Grice but....
SP_Grice-300x193.jpg

Naugatuck resident and Kingswood Oxford running back Sharrieff Grice (on knee, furthest to right) attended the National Underclassmen Football Combine on March 16 in Miami, Fla., where he was awarded the 2014 Miami MVP Award. The award earned Grice an invitation to participate in the U100 Top Prospect Elite Event this coming summer. Last fall as a junior, Grice rushed for 840 yards and 11 touchdowns for Kingswood Oxford. He is being recruited by a number of Division I universities and will be making his first visits this spring.

I know next to nothing about high school football other than what I read here, but are all of these offers "non-committable?" Its great that UConn has 43 offers out but what are UConn's realistic chances of landing any of them? I am starting to feel as if getting excited about offers is mistaking activity for achievement. Is UConn offering 'Bama/LSU/Texas level recruits hoping to get a few drippings? At a certain point does the staff look to revert to their typical recruit population? What is the deal?

There are clearly reaches out there as far as offers for many of the "national recruits" (some are offers by previous regime) but I think there are just as many that are within reach of this current staff. We seem to have a broader geographic reach than we ever have.

I wouldn't get excited about anyone just being offered, right now Alabama has 168 offers out for 2015. To be competitive, and I do think its unfortunate that teams do this, but UConn should be offering hundreds of people, Cinci has 170 offers out for 2015. Literally, every team no matter if they are Alabama or BC needs to throw out that many offers to ensure they get a good class. I wouldn't get too concerned about typical recruiting population or recruits being too blue blood just yet, because no matter who you are, you are getting just a few drippings in the end, because any recruit who is really gonna be even decent, will probably have 10-20 offers anyway.

No way Zach Allen was coming to UCONN. Never mind Marinelli. His dad is a big financial guru and he wouldnt allow it.
UCONN is beneath everyone from New Canaan and Darien. Just a mindset.

This is very true, but should offer anyway. Some day soon we will start getting them.

Couldn't be further from the truth. There are a lot of students from both towns presently attending UConn. There are also a lot of UConn graduates living in both New Canaan and Darien.

I'm of the opinion that until Lou Marinelli stops coaching at New Canaan that you won't see a NC kid commit to UCONN. Same with Staples and Hand.

I'm talking about athletes. I know that everyone that lives in FF County is not rich. I lived there for 50 years.

Disagree 100% and it's one of the biggest falsehoods in college football. The student-athlete and his parent(s) decide, not a typing/gym teacher or a coach. If a athlete wants to attend a university, his coach has NO influence ultimately.

Those 3 coaches will do anything & everything they can to sway a kid and his parents away from UCONN. You can't assume anything less until they come out with quotes in the press that refute what they said after Pasqualoni and DeLeone were fired.

Matt Walsh and Nick Vitale are both Hand grads. I know Vitale transferred in but a Hand grad none the less. I want the best local kids as much as anybody, however I want players who want to be here and can help us win football games. The fact of the matter is, the majority of D1 talent in CT is not from Fairfield County. They come from Hartford, New London and New Haven County and are usually from towns of a lower socioeconomic status. Kids who eat, breath, and sleep football 365 days a year. Kids from Fairfield County, have more opportunities outside of school or football (many play lacrosse). Just look at the summer "All Star" football games in CT. Kids from New Canaan, Darien, Greenwich, and Staples, aside from a few, don't participate. They're playing baseball, in the Hamptons, or chartering a yacht. I kid, I kid....My point is this....if they don't want a UConn education....so what. There are very few big-time recruits there anyway.

With all due respect, you must be new to the recruiting scene. Some high school coaches, from prominent football programs (and not so prominent) are known to "guide" players and their parents to institutions they feel is "best" (cough, cough) for the player. Sitting the bench for 3 years at a "name" school is awesome.

Too many high school coaches have egos that get stroked by college coaches.

Parents who have a clue can see through it though.

My opinion about those 3 schools and whether their coaches will steer kids away from UCONN stems from quotes the three of them made after Pasqualoni and DeLeone were fired after the Buffalo game. As far as talent goes, Allen will only be the 2nd kid (Conor Hanratty was his first) he has sent to a P-5 school in the entire time he has coached at New Canaan. Definitely a guy who believes his own hype!
